Review: Echoes of Evidence – Chinese Detective Drama (2026)
This is a short and spoiler-free review on the recently released short chinese detective drama. If you just want to know whether you should watch it or not then you should. It is a simple, short, binge-worthy watch which isn’t too heavy on the detective mysteries.
Premise

The drama revolves around a young forensic expert Qiu Chen played by Eddy Geng and a detective Gu Yu Ming played by Li Mu Feng (who is only 33 years old guys, I thought he would be a little older, my bad). They share a long history together and have teamed up in the present to solve mysterious cases revolving around the suspicious Scavengers Case (which was supposed to be solved).
Characters
I really like the line up of artists, they did a good job considering the small budget. I have watched other dramas of Eddy Geng (like the Voyage of Haihun 1 & 2) where he has done an even better job so I know what he is capable of.

As for the other cast members, I really like them too. Their presence didn’t feel out of the ordinary like sometimes you just watch characters and feel why are they even there, so thank god, it isn’t like that here.
Detective Mysterious
I liked the cases and how they were tied together to the overall story. Though you have to make sure you don’t compare the cases to other detective dramas as it is a low-budget short drama where you won’t be getting all those deep mind-boggling sherlock type mysteries.

Like for instance, I had a feeling who the culprit might be from the beginning but that could be due to the fact that I am an avid-watcher/reader of detective stories.
Overall Rating
I would give this drama a solid 8 out of 10. Though it might seem like a really high rating but considering that there haven’t been that many dramas with two male leads in 2026 – this totally deserves it.
